Editing for stories, essays, novel and memoir chapters from 3,500-6,000 words

Our packages were created so that we can provide you with the thoughtful consideration and critique your work demands, while also offering the individual attention and feedback that students have come to expect from the Lafayette Writers’ Studio.

How it works:

  • Once you submit payment, we will contact you within 2 business days to consult with you via email about your project. Once you send your manuscript to us, we will have comments and feedback to you within 7 business days.

  • Each of our editorial services include comprehensive line edits, margin comments, and an editorial letter. A 20-minute follow up over phone or video is optional and is not included in this package. 

  • This package includes feedback on work from 3,500-6,000 words, which is the same as 24 pages, double-spaced, with one-inch margins in Times New Roman or a comparable 12 pt. font of your story.  Additional pages are $2.50.

More about Melissa

Melissa Fraterrigo is the author of the novel, Glory Days ( University of Nebraska Press), which was named one of "The Best Fiction of 2017" by ​Chicago Review of Books.  Melissa is also the author of the short story collection, The Longest Pregnancy (Livingston Press). Her fiction and nonfiction have appeared in a variety of journals including Puerto del Sol, Massachusetts Review, Fifth Wednesday Journal, Sou’wester and Shenandoah. She has twice been nominated for Pushcart Prizes.In addition to her publications, she has taught creative writing at Bowling Green State University, Southern Utah University, Penn State-Altoona, and at the Indiana Writers’ Center. When is coaching offered?

Coaching is for writers whose schedules do not accommodate a workshop or would prefer to work one-on-one. Once you purchase a coaching session, Melissa will contact you within 2 business days—usually less—so that you may discuss your particular needs and goals. Once she receives your manuscript, she will return feedback to you within 7 business days.
